Welcome to The Companion
We are an association of Muslim men in business and the professions, established in Lagos, Nigeria, in 1984. Guided by the Qur’an and Sunnah, we are committed to all‑round human development – spiritual, economic, and social. Our goal is to present Islam not merely as a faith of rituals, but as a vibrant, enduring value system that uplifts individuals, families, and entire communities.
📌 Our Vision – To be the foremost faith‑based organisation of Muslim professionals dedicated to all‑round human advancement.
📌 Our Mission – To drive human progress based on Islamic values, seeking Allah’s pleasure above all.
Our Philosophy & Core Values
Subject to the Qur’an and the Sunnah, The Companion shall be a forum where all shades of opinions and ideologies are tolerated. We value:
- Faith in Action – Living Islam through service, integrity, and excellence.
- Unity in Diversity – Embracing different viewpoints while upholding Islamic principles.
- Empowerment – Equipping individuals and communities with tools for self‑reliance.
- Compassion – Extending kindness to the needy, the imprisoned, and the vulnerable.
- Strategic Impact – Engaging policy, economy, and society for lasting change.
Our Core Pillars
We organise all our activities around four powerful themes:
🕌 Da’wah & Enlightenment
Spreading Islam’s true message through media, prison outreach, and interfaith dialogue. Our daily Ramadan TV program “A Moment with The Companion” reaches millions.
📚 Education & Leadership
From the Dawah Holiday Programme (DHP) – a 10‑day youth camp – to TAFEL, our Academy for Ethics and Leadership, we equip young Muslims with life skills, Quranic knowledge, and ethical leadership.
💼 Economic Empowerment
Through our Zakat & Sadaqah Fund now Zakat and Sadaqah Foundation and Muslim Welfare Fund (MUWELF), we distribute millions of naira annually in business grants, scholarships, healthcare support, and debt relief – transforming charity into sustainable self‑reliance.
🤝 Community & Strategic Engagement
We build bridges across the Ummah. We pioneered MUSWEN (Muslim Ummah of South‑West Nigeria) and host annual National Discourses that shape policy on governance, justice, and economic reform.
